LifeWorks Scholarships

Each year, LifeWorks partners with Southern California Edison, Comcast NBCUniversal and the Felice Samuel Greene fund to award over $30,000 in scholarships to eligible LGBTQ and ally high school seniors as well as college undergrad students to assist in fulfilling their college education. Applications will re-open January 2019.

**Applicants who do not meet the specific requirements will not be considered for a LifeWorks scholarship.  


Southern California Edison - provides scholarships directed towards STEM education.

There are 8 specific areas of study:

  • Business (Management Information Systems)
  • Computer & Information Services (Computer Programming, Computer Science, Information Systems, etc.,)
  • Engineering (Bio-engineering, Chemical, Civil, Electrical)
  • Engineering (Industrial, Materials, Mechanical, Nuclear, Software, Nano)
  • Mathematics (Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Statistics)
  • Engineering Technology (Computer, Construction, Drafting, Electrical, Mechanical, Surveying Telecommunication)
  • Natural Resources & Conservation (Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Forestry, National Resources and Conservation, Wildlife and Wilderness)
  • Physical Sciences (Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, Chemistry, Geology/Earth Science, Geophysics, Physics, Comprehensive)

Comcast NBCUniversal Media Scholarship — students must be studying an area of media to be eligible. This scholarship is a tuition grant based on financial need only. Because NBCUniversal aims to support careers in media and entertainment applicants must be an undergraduate majoring--or for High School senior, declaring a major or pursuing education in media, including but not limited to: Advertising, Broadcasting, Digital media, Graphic Design, Website Development, Journalism, communications or Public Relations, etc.

***EXCLUDES: Performing Arts (acting, comedians, improv, musicians)***


The Felice Samuel Greene Scholarship Fund was established by David B. Cruz and Steven B. Greene to provide scholarships for deserving youth who would otherwise be unable to afford college tuition, books and related expenses. The fund is named in honor of Steven’s mother and recipients are determined by the LA LGBT Center’s Lifeworks Program. All college majors are eligible for this scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements:

High School Applicants

  • Graduating Senior from High School or GED Program
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Demonstrated passion for community involvement/volunteerism
  • Provide (2) letters of recommendation (teachers, counselors, principles, mentor)
  • A copy of most recent transcripts

College Applicants

  • Enrolled in an accredited 2 or 4 year college/university
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Demonstrated passion for community involvement/volunteerism
  • Provide (2) letters of recommendation (teachers, counselors, principles, mentor)
  • A copy of most recent transcripts

Recipients are encouraged to attend annual LGBTQ Youth Awards ceremony.
